ANNCThe Queen, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister of Ibagli, has been pleased to approve the appointment of the Right Honourable Sir Steven Spell as the next Governor-General of Ibagli. Spell will serve in succession to Dame Annette Farquhar and will assume office in September 2006. Background The Right Honourable Sir Steven Spell, KP, GCRI, OIM, KCMG, has held numerous offices in Ibagli over the last decades. From 1963 to 1994, Spell served as a Member of the House of Commons for the district of Colltik Bridge. During his time in the House Spell served as Minister of Justice, Minister of Health, and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons during the Ministries of the late Prime Minister Henry LeVeque. From 1985 until leaving the House in 1994, Spell served as Speaker of the House of Commons. After his retirement from the House, Spell served as the first Ibaglian Governor of Hapalnia. As the seniormost Commissioner of Ibagli, he has acted as Governor-General on several occasions.
