Alexander John Foster, MP (born 5 May 1971) is the leader of the Conservative Party. He was elected to the Loygre City Council in 1996, and was elected leader of the city Conservative caucus in 2004. After the Conservatives won a majority of the seats on the council in the 2006 local elections, he was elected mayor by the council. In 2011, he ran for the leadership of the Conservative Party and was defeated by Amelia Pietersen. After the party's loss in the 2011 General Election, he challenged Pietersen for the leadership once again in 2012, defeating her on the first ballot. He was elected to the House of Commons in a by-election in 2013.
