WHEREAS in order to promote democracy and good government it has been deemed expedient that certain legislation related to freedom of information be enacted;
NOW THEREFORE, the QUEEN, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and Commons present in this present Parliament assembled, does enact the following:
1. A Freedom of Information Office shall be established under the Ministry of Justice.
2. The Freedom of Information Office shall be responsible for releasing all documents subject to this act on request.
3. No government document shall be retained from public knowledge of its contents except when:
- (1) releasing the said document would compromise the security of Ibagli or of any foreign state
- (2) the document is a piece of personal correspondence
- (3) the document is protected under the Official Secrets Act
4. Any document protected under paragraph (3) of Section 3 of this act shall cease to be protected after fifty years have elapsed from the date on which it last became subject to the protections.
