  • His Highness Tupua Tamasese Tupuola Tufuga Efi (pictured), the Head of State of Samoa, arrives on a state visit to Ibagli. He will be in Ibagli until 9 August.
  • Supreme Court justice Sir Jeremy Cannon announces his immediate resignation from the court as he is appointed to the House of Commons by the Green Party.

  • Former Chief of the Defence Staff Field Marshal Sir William Benson dies after suffering a heart attack.
  • Buckingham Palace announces that the Countess of Wessex is expecting a second child in December.
  • Ibagli is placed on Annex II of the European Union visa requirement legislation, allowing Ibaglians to travel to all European Union countries without previously acquiring a visa. Reciprocity is granted, allowing EU citizens to travel to Ibagli without a visa.
