Essex is a district in Ibagli. It is centered on Crofton, and while many of the district's administrative facilities are located within Crofton, Crofton itself is a unitary city that is not a part of any district. Until 2009, several villages adjacent to Crofton were a part of the district, but these were merged into the city of Crofton.
