Palterma is a small Ibaglian dependency. It is located approximately 200 miles East of Ibagli, Northeast of American Samoa. It was transferred to Ibagli in 2004, having previously been a British dependency. As of 2007, the population of Palterma was approximately 2,400.
History
After an uprising in 1969, Ibaglian armed forces were deployed to aid the British task force in restoring the colonial government. They were also involved in a short peacekeeping mission in 2004.
Geography
Palterma comprises three islands. A larger mainland, and two smaller islands.
Government
The government of Palterma is headed by a Governor, who is appointed by the Governor-General on the advice of the Ibaglian government.
Since 1985, the legislature of Palterma consists of the Legislative Council, which is comprised of 8 elected members, the Chief Executive, and the Financial Secretary. The Chief Executive and Financial Secretary are appointed by the Governor.
